PostPosted: Thu May 08, 2003 4:59 pm   Post subject: ILLEGAL PIC ID PROBLEM

OKAY...normaly i dont get this error....but on my comp i get it all the time.....is it my computer or is it something to do with winoot
code:

var intropic : int := Pic.FileNew ("intropic.bmp")
Pic.Draw (intropic, 12, 12, 0)

i dont think theres anything wrong with my syntax....the picture file is in the same dir as my code...so that shouldnt be a problem....i spelled the filename properly....umm....it doest say there are any missing parameters to calling Pic.Draw....and i've used this program at my school...and i've been able to draw bricks....but here....i'm starting to make a winoot version of south park spaceshooter......and the first pic in the game isnt even working.... Evil or Very Mad ...any help is appreciated

well there are a few things that could cuase this, the file being in wrong dir, not exsiting at all, spelled wrong, you are calling to may pics in your progaming, the file is not an image file, the file is courped and many more.

it would help if you coulod give us some more info. like what version of turing you are using. where the file is on your hrad drive and poasibly more of the code of your progame.

as i previously stated...the file does exist in the same dir as the game code....those two lines are the first of my game...i've just commented them out......all it does is say "south park" and display the characters......ummm....i know the file isnt corrupted because i created it myself...and i made this at school...it worked fine there.....i think its just my computer....so forget about it....unless you know how i can make it work on my comp......

well tou could try and put the full loaction of the file in the "'s

ie.

"c:/mydir/myfile.bmp"

also if you are using turing 3 you may have to mess arowned with the driectory broweser thing to set the job and home dirs to difrent setings.

i got more ideas so if this dose not wrok tell me.

Also make sure that your directory browser is open cause sometimes that screws it up if it's not open

yeah... ic what you mean.... personally (not like anyone cares) but i don't like the ones that are very wide, because when i go into a thread at school and someone has posted that has an avatar thats like 400 pixels wide then its really hard to see whats been posted cuz they have dinky monitors (800X600 res)

blade you shouldn't be talking about bad avatars Mad

it ain't exactly easy explaining to your ics teacher at school that you're actually doing work and not looking up pr0n when your bouncing avatar is so damn noticeable.

it'd be safer to look at his avatar then your suggestive one Razz
