I try to run turing but no window opens.
Then I press enter on it until several windows come up reading:
Unable to connect to DDE server
error = 16394

Any idea how to solve this? o__O

Thanks :]

complete shut down you system, then turn back on, it should work now, if not then try reinstalling turing. Not sure why that bug happens but it's happened to me, I just restarted my computer.

Turing is dumb, just face it (try opening a new window type random letters then double click in the window)

After all of your re-installs, is that still the same error message that you are getting?

You could try checking that your "Network DDE" and/or "Network DDE DSDM" services are enabled and running. However it seems very odd to me that turing would use DDE.

Does this error come up when you do anything else or just when you try to run turing?

Also i would make sure windows is up to date with the latest patchs and updates.

It seems very odd that this error would come up at all never mind on both windows 7 and xp. Are you sure that you downloaded turing from http://compsci.ca/holtsoft/ ?

Edit: Also what happens when you try diffrent versions of turing?

Odd, I also experienced a DDE related issue with Turing over 4 years ago. Smile

See: http://compsci.ca/v3/viewtopic.php?p=93245

For reference, a replica of beard0's screenshot as best as I can guess can be found below. With these settings, on Windows XP, I get no DDE dialogues.

Are you opening Turing directly slowhill or a turing file that should open in turing?

Also is turing installed locally or on a network drive?
