Hey,

I am doing a project in class with turing, which requires the use of our parallel port and the parallelput command. We are using old IBM Laptops upgraded to windows XP and some of the laptops are registering a error code, something about "I/O error (4)". Has anyone ever experienced or had problems with this that got it fixed? My teacher is new to the course and does not know how to fix this.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

It could be one of two things:

1) The version of turing you are using is too new for the computer

2) The version of turing you are using is too old, and it needs to be replaced.

In that case, www.holtsoft.com

I believe the version of turing is above 4, cannot remember for sure, and some of the other laptops, that are exactly the same can run it, it is only a few that wont cooperate. We have also tried installing the support files a couple times, same error message.

Suggestion:

1- Reinstall Turing completely, getting the updated version if need be.
2- If problem still happens, then it is PC, return it or get them checked out.

Ok, thanks, I will get my teacher to try the first option tomorrow.

Go to C:\Program Files\Turing\Support and there should be an exe in there containing "io" in the name somewhere. Get your administrator to install this on all the machines you want to use. It installs Turing's Parallel "driver", which allows you to use it.
