Recently the third incarnation of the beloved BBS has entered the second round of beta testing. After checking it out for a bit, I'm actually quite impressed. It looks much cleaner and seems more... responsive than phpBB2.
I'm finding the admincp to be quite a bit better than v2. It's got a lot more features and is more spread out. The usercp also seems to be better, but I haven't checked it out.
Really I'm just starting to find out all the new features in phpBB. If you want to check it out for yourself, I've set up a testing board here. Go nuts.
I'd love to hear others' opinions as well. |

Tony wrote: how does it compare to http://compsci.ca/v3/? Missing quite a few features that CompSci.Ca's v3 has like karma and such, though I'm sure things like that will be added as mods in the future. Installing mods from the admincp like in SMF would be nice. |

Honestly I dont like it Especailly since its absolutely not compatiable with phpBB2 o.O Plus the code looks even more messier now :S At least it did when I had last checked it (was still in its CVS before the beta)
I like the admin panel look though, looks clean, got rid of the frames *woo*
But I don't get what the modules thing in there is, also I think they made the styling more complicated :S But I haven't really check that part out much
The code has been improved though, look at the search, it actually works (Compare it with phpBB2's search, a huge diffrence)
O.o I like the fact that only the post with the extra-large urls or images get messed, lets hope that's still there in their final style release ^^ |

I'm really liking how it resizes image attachments as thumbnails for you. Would make things a lot easier...
Unbelievable... they did it. phpBB3 appears to be standards compliant. |
