PostPosted: Wed May 07, 2003 12:17 pm   Post subject: Final Assignment...!

I need ideas for my final assignment. I was thinking of a simple pong, but i did that and it won't include everything i need. I have no clue where to start, we have a bunch of... 'great' minds here so help me out dudes (make an appropriate one).. I was also thinking of improving my hangman and handing that in... but, i'm still open to suggestions.. the program must include

- Datafiles
- Arrays
- String manipulation

i know these things are totally simple... so gimmie somethin 'harder' to do

if you want something that's not too tough, you could do yahtzee, or if you want a bit of a challenge, you could make monopoly. That's what i did. You should be able to get all three of those categories in there.

homer, I know I can't technically stop you from sending your code to blade, however I reccomend you don't. The whole point of the final ISP is to tackle a challenge.

I hope blade will try it on his own first before appealing to homer for help.

but if not, doesn't affect me so who cares?! Laughing

well said asok....by the way...graphic calculator?!?!?!?! who's your teacher and where the fvck is he from?!?!?....personaly too easy for a final assignment and i've only been doing turing for a little while now (3-4 months).....(i did do other programming tho **smiles sheepishly**)...do a a game...like paddle ball (brick) or summin....any game can have a file if you record high scores on it.....and if your teacher wants string manipulation....then make the user save his account with a name and pass and when they open the game....the users name and pass should be requested..or they can create a new account (you should allow deletion of accounts tho..).....i think that counts as string manipulation

Blade wants a challange, not an easy way out. Very Happy

I think you can pick from any of the classic arcade games... tetris, pacman, that thing like pong but where you break briks... asteroyds (lol - ask Catalyst) and more 8)

ileagal pic identifier typically means it can't find the pics you want to use, double check the file extension, directory, and spelling (caps incluided)

Here's a challenge to you: Make an rpg that is fun to play, and includes NO GRAPHICS whatsoever.

I did it, and got 58/50 (no typo)

thanx man....now...i got this problemo.....the attached file contains my attempt at the paddle ball game....you dont need to dl it to explain this to me coz im a fast learner....you kno the briks....i have the ball bouncing when it hits the brik...but i cant manage to figure out how to make the hit brik disappear....i attempted making the brick a picture that was repeated over the screen and then i was gonna make it go white once it was hit....but then i realized something....I DONT KNOW HOW TO DETECT WHICH BRICK WAS HIT!!!!....AND THUS NOT KNOWING MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ERASE THE RIGHT ONE.....maybe i'll just randomly delete a brick when a brick is hit and hope that i delete the right part of the screen.....:p .....yea any help will be appreciated
