I absolutely love programming. It's amazing and I really enjoy every minute of it (well, okay sometimes it's frustrating!). I am making new programs just about every three days, that function how I'd like them to. Though, I'm still aware I don't know much. I was here to ask if anybody could offer me an On Level Challenge for me to do. I'm quite a boring person; despite creating miniscule software for solving my minute problems, I'm not the most creative of people. Well, not until it comes to problem solving .
The community here is great, and very inspirational. Many people I've not known before, I seem to look up to. It's really marvelous seeing the glib at which you guys can program, and I figure it's not a bad decision to come here for a project. (Also, I believe you host contests as well for high schools? xD)
Thanks in advance to whoever decides to help me in my endeavors. I'm not very deciduous in my projects, so I should be able to complete what is given! (And if I can't alone, i have all the help I'll need... Google! [haha kidding.. sort of ])
EDIT: Almost everything I know how to do is somewhere in my Platformer game, with the exception of I know how to use multi-dementional arrays. As far as mathematics, I've completed Geometry and everything below (sorry, teacher, apparently i will be using this in my life), and am taking Alg 2 this year. |

Well, if you go to dwite.org, you cn register there and there is a competition this wednesday actually if you want to sign up for that.
A little thing you could do if you are short on ideas (which I regularly am) is create your version of a well known game or a game you love. Once you have the basics done for the game you can create an AI that will play it. It can be quite challenging, but also very rewarding when you can play everyday games you love on your own computer and know that you made the game
I have made a platformer, euker, checkers, tried a few others, then made tron, chess, tetris as well more recently. You can do whatever you want and eventually as you are making a game an awesome idea will likely form from that and you can just add a new twist to whatever you are making |

Sadly, I do not think I can register.

Thank you for this, that is absolutely a great idea! Albeit my lack of creativity, I will definitely have fun doing this. And making an AI to defeat a game for me? Well that is my next goal!!
Thank you, Crossley, for suggesting that I do this. I'm quiet excited to bea-- have my computer beat a game!

I agree, Re-making those classic games would serve as good experience, and would be fun to do.
However, if you want to go a different route, about every week and a half we get a new assignment, and its 1 page. If you really wanted, I could just type out the entire thing, and you could work on it also.
It'd be like you're taking the high school course, but without the credits =P.
when you complete yours, I'll take a look at it, and give some feedback, then show you my completed version, so you can see what I did with that project. |
