Hey,
I remember seeing a post somewhere earlier about this. It may have been a blog, or a discussion in the forums that has since died out. The question is, how do you study for Computer Science exams?
Other exams are relatively straightforward. Math - memorize and understand necessary theorems and do practice problems in weak areas to reinforce your knowledge. Philosophy - understand the material(most important), go over some notes. The list goes on.
It seems like Computer Science is similar to philosophy in terms of studying. Once you understand the material, you need not study very much. I didn't study much for either midterm and did fairly well, with ridiculous mistakes in ridiculous amounts sabotaging my grade. But the coding questions are never much of a challenge. I'd finish 1 hr early and leave 30 mins early, only to find the stupidest of mistakes when I get it back. But this is the exam... somehow it feels like more preparation is necessary. And due to the lack of a practice exam online, I'm kind of lost. I tried reading the course notes, but I find them kind of boring to simply read (since we went over them in lecture). I suppose looking for practice problems in the textbook is another option. Or try to simply do a rough review of the course? How do you guys study for CompSci? I'm not looking for instructions per se, but for advice that would allow me and others who may be interested to improve their CompSci study habits.
Thanks!

We don't really have exams, but I would just go over the concepts and make sure you can apply them!! There are many occasions when I could not solve a problem because I was unable to apply my learning. |

I have an exam Saturday evening, and my form of studying will be teaching myself Lisp, Prolog and Haskell, since I never went to classes, and the finals for the last 5 years all have questions on them. |

I just study for my computer science exams Rocky Balboa style - I just work out, jog in the snow, climb mountains and grow a beard.
...nautrally I end up with good marks. |

Study for CS, I go over the assignment questions and redo them. If I have troubles with certain questions, I go through them in the textbooks and stuff to make sure I understand it fully. And try it again later. |
