For some reason, when I just put play ("2a"), it just won't execute. I have the speakers on at full blast, yet nothing works. How could it be? Could it be that there's something wrong with my turing environment?

Here it is.
loop
play ("2e a e 2e a 1e")
end loop
Yet even if I just put a single line, it won't execute.

Works for me, although if you mean that there is no output window, this is because it has nothing to display.

Under some systems such as UNIX, the play procedure may have no effect.

The current (1999) implementation does not support play.

Is that it maybe? Or more likely, are you using speakers on your monitor, and like the monitors at my school, you forgot that you need a separate cable from the video? Or maybe you've just got mute on?

Okay, I'm assuming it's your reason above ^.
I just downloaded mine from the Vaughn Secondary School Website.

I very much dought it is the UNIX issue unless you some how obtained a very old or very rare version of turing.

Can you tell us what version of turing you are using and your operating system?

In any case, the other issue zampano metioned sounded most likey, witch is that the computer has no sound card or speakers. Can you play sound from other programs like media player on that computer?

I bet it has something to do with midis. My computer doesn't play midis so I don't hear notes either. I haven't really spent much time so I don't know much. It might be a driver issue. Try downloading a midi file and playing it (there are tons for all the classic games).

This happened to me too. Try double-clicking on the little speaker icon in your taskbar. Then when the volume control comes up, make sure that SW Synth and Wave are at a reasonable volume. Now try it.

Good luck.
