Hey guys, I've been helped many times by CompSci but never actually posted anything as I wasn't a member. I've looked for a long time on this subject but cant find exactly what I'm looking for.

Im making a "Teacher's Mark Book" program using records, writing to files, ect...

Simple enough, except that I cant figure out how to save the string in the GUI text field to a file when the user hits "Submit"

I would be overjoyed to hear any input on this. Thanks in advance, and let me know if I have been unclear in any way.

Cheers

There are three parts to this:

triggering a procedure to start on click (basic GUI setup)

getting the text into a string variable (technically optional, but it's easier to understand this)

Writing that string variable to a file.

Okay, so how would I take a string from the text field and make it a separate variable? This may strike you as something obvious but I can be slow at times. Thanks for your help.
