Exam time is almost over and it's time to sit back, relax, and cook something. So, post your favourite recipes Smile.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp. Margarine/Butter
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 tbsp. Milk
  • 1 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa
  • 3/4 Chocolate Chips

Directions:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Create a hole in the centre.
  2. Mix together all remaining ingredients into a smaller bowl.
  3. Pour the liquid ingredients into the hole in the bowl of the dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Split into little round balls and place on a greased baking sheet.

Delicious Homemade Spaghetti/Lasagna Sauce

Type: Dinner
Preparation Time: ~20 - 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 3 - 5 hours
Stove Temperature: Medium to Low
Serving Size: ~5 or 6 cups (rough guess)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. lean hamburger
  • 2 cans Heinz Tomato Sauce
  • 1 can Heinz Tomato Paste
  • 1 red pepper (medium to large size)
  • 1 green pepper (medium to large size)
  • 8 oz (220 g) mushrooms
  • 1 medium bulb of garlic
  • 2 large onions

Directions:

  1. Cook the hamburger
  2. Pour the Tomato Sauce and scrape Tomato Paste into a large (note: large) pot
  3. Turn the stove to a medium low temperature (lower for a better tasting sauce, it will be thicker that way)
  4. Once the hamburger is done, add it to the pot
  5. Dice the onions, peppers, and mushrooms and add them to the Tomato Sauce and Paste mixture
  6. Using a garlic press, press the garlic into the sauce, stir everything together well
  7. Leave covered (with some sort of vent) for the next 3 - 5 hours stirring occasionally
  8. When sauce is thick and hot, serve with your favorite spaghetti, or use it for your lasagna

Suggestions:
Add any of your favorite spices (I enjoy hotsauce) to the mix

Edit: Could we have only posts with recipes be posted here, or genuine comments on recipes? That way, this thread isn't clogged with junk?

Brownies

Type: Dessert
Preperation Time: ~20 Minutes
Oven Pre-Heat: 350 F
Serving Size: ~20 Squares

Ingredients:

  • 2 squares Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips (or chopped walnuts, if you prefer)

Directions:

  1. Using a double broiler pan, slowly melt and mix together the chocolate squares and shortening.
  2. After they have melted, remove the pan from the heat and beat in the eggs and sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture and mix well again.
  5. Add either the chocolate chips or walnuts (your choice) and mix well yet again.
  6. Spread out the mixture into a greased 8x8" square pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes. The top should crust over when done. Do not allow it to overbake, as the brownies will dry out.

Suggestion: Once again, a few smarties on top couldn't hurt. After all, you're baking brownies so I don't see you counting your calories Wink.
