ok, so ive been doin mario for my final programming project, hes buggy as fuck, but that's not what this post is about....

i got an emulator and printscreened the entire first level of SMB3

and up until this point i have been using a different background from that .exe mario game floating around the internet

so i linked all the shots of the first level and made it into a jpg

and it loads, but it wont scale the width past maxx*7

everything on my level is squished because the background won't stretch....

any ideas?

well what you could do is have a counter and have several pictures that overlap at least one screen full so once you reach the end of the map, import the next pic and put the overlaping part over the last section of the first picture.

whoa, never thought of that.....

damn it, if i thought of that, i would have continued with the mario sidescroller.....

and even more surprising is that andy said something useful Shocked

btw, would there be a better way to check for platforms? like when mario jumps onto something, i thought about importing a textfile of values, but never went through with it.

the way I see it, you should have a textfile of actual value of platforms that aligns with the image. It would probably be easier to draw an image based on the file... but if you want to keep those graphics... Confused

oh, and I know dodge gonna some say crap like "use whatdotcolor", so I reply to that in advance. "NO" Laughing

hmm, maybe, i think i might be able to just scale the picture outside of turing

but yeah, that platform thing is gonna be hard

and yeah, at the moment i am currently using whatdotcolour on spaces in the floor

like holes or whatever

whatdotcolor is bad
