hey I am making a side scrolling game. I have all the gifs forthe frames and theanimation responds when i press the proper keys but they flash alot

Have you read the FAQ? Have you consulted the [Turing Walkthrough]? Have you noted that similar questions have been asked dozens of times before?
If this happens to be a case different from those, you need to post your code so we can see what is happening. Please note that since you're using .gif's, the majority of users will not be able to run this code as .gif's are only supported in 4.1. If these are static, then consider using .jpgs or .bmps instead. If they are animated, then you might be in for a little bit of a bumpy ride.
