A while back i tried to log on to my computer, but I couldn't. My password had been changed. I then realized that any admin level account could change the password of any other, and thus allow acces to that person's account.
I protected my account as much as i could, with the intent to keep my sister out. I realized the vulnerability with the aforementioned security breech. Reducing the other account's priviliges is not an option. Does anyone know how to make an account more secure? |

why not just make the account power users... they have the same access as administrators, except they cant change passwords and access other ppls files.. but other than that, you're pretty much screwed cuz even if they dont log into your acct, then can always look at ur files by simply browsing through them |

You could make an administrative account for one of your parents (you nor your sister know the password to this admin account) and make yourself and your sister lower level accounts. Whatever the level is, low enough so you can't screw around with each other's accounts/files. |

crap. anuways, my files are not acessible from other accounts. If you click properties of your my documents folder there is a checkbox to make them private I think.
In any case, i'm pretty much the network admin around here, so I have to have the highest level access. Oh well. |

If you want them to be able to install things and mess up your computer: Power User. If you want them to be able to use it, but not mess anythign up: User. If you want them to have complete control: Admin. Simple |

And if you're really worried about security: Linux. |

admin can access all accounts, power user cannot. admin can set admin accounts, power user cannot. admin can delete admin account, poweruser cannot delete admin account. admin can set the things power user can access. some programs dont work under power users, as opposed to admin accounts. things like this... |
