boohoohoo, I got deferred from Princeton. So now I'm applying to Toronto and Western. I think I should apply to another one too, since I get three for free, right?

Three for free? I thought it was three for like 50 bucks or something. Then 30 bucks a choice after that. But I haven't applied yet so I'm not positive on the costs.

You pay for an application package that includes 3 university applications. I think it's smart of them, because you should apply for: dream school(just for the sake of flooding them... who knows?), realistic school and a safety.

I was always in math.

Of course I'm applying to US schools, but I'm also applying to Toronto and Western, those are my safety schools.

Anyone going into computer science at waterloo (or possibly others), if you like math, check out Combinatorics & Optimization. I found that Computer Science was a little bit too light on the math, so I switched into that.

Anyway, here's the link: http://www.math.uwaterloo.ca/CandO_Dept/index.shtml

The whole of math.uwaterloo.ca appears to be down. It should come back up soon.

dude what kinda job are u hoping to get into? cryptography?... good luck getting paid. Laughing

Nope. The 10 year plan is:

1) Get my undergrad at Waterloo.
2) Go to either MIT or Berkley for a Ph.D
3) Do some post-doc work back in Canada
4) Eventually become a prof.

And to me that is more of a down side to a school then an upside unless u are in a nuclear engering progame.

Students + Nuclear Reactor = Bad

Um optimization: The procedure or procedures used to make a system or design as effective or functional as possible, especially the mathematical techniques involved.

are those procedures already out there, or do you have to learn to make them? Well, at least the post doc work will get you some money, being a prof is pretty appealing though.
