Go with the one that you don't have to pay for. If you get a virus it's your own fault for trying to get gunbound hacks.

A hardware firewall...

Indeed, a hardware firewall is better than all of these combined.

However, if you have to choose one, go with AVG. It's the least virus-like of the three. Norton's software has a tendency to not like being uninstalled, and a reputation for being overzealous in fixing problems that don't exist and thus causing problems.

It's been my experience that Trend Micro PC-Cillin is the best anti-virus software.

If you use norton and AVG, you will probably notice that they both find a lot of viruses, but they can't get rid of most of them. PC-Cillin on the other hand, I have never had a problem with.

Now, granted, PC-Cillin isn't free. Well...technically...umm....yeah...

The System Volume Information folder is just a folder on the C drive that Windows stores it's System Restore files in (And a few other important files that keep the OS running, which is why it's so hard to access).

To find it, go to the C drive, then go to Tools, the click the View tab, then set it to display hidden files, and uncheck the box beside "Hide Protected Operating System Files (Reccomended)" or something like that.

Hit okay, I think some prompt will come up, hit yes obviously, and the System Volume Information folder should appear in the list of folders on the C drive.

EDIT: To actually access it, just right click it, click Properties, and take it off Read Only.
