How to shoot yourself in the foot with Java.
After importing java.awt.right.foot.* and java.awt.gun.right.hand.*, and writing the classes and methods of those classes needed, you?ve forgotten what the hell you?re doing. |

I'd just like to say, it's been awhile, and Java (among other languages) has grown and evolved. Many things in the original no longer apply.
However, I wonder if Java doesn't still suck.
Yes, you can do all kinds of things in Java that used to be unthinkable. Heck, lambdas!
But... it feels glued on, and the interia of old Java is still holding it back. Kotlin seems to be the mass market replacement JVM language, and while Java has gone in a very nerdy computer science-y direction of late, Scala still has it beat there.
So, aside from being a language you use because it used to be big (a new school COBOL if you will) what is the point of Java? If there's no point, then surely it sucks. |
