I use to play it a lot! It is a pretty good game. I did like it, but I don't think it's nearly as good as Skyrim.

Off topic, but is skyrim 64-bit (I don't think it is, but it really should be, at least optionally)

And I agree Leo Crimson, I found WoW (and even Lotro) to be overly complex. It wasn't a matter of it being too hard to understand so much as there was WAY too many stats, effects and variables to be able to figure out what's best.

All the stats and effects and items are part of what makes WoW great. Once you understand your class and playstyle, it really isn't hard to figure out the best stats to stack. Usually there's a bare minimum value for certain skills in order to play effectively- for example, a tank needs a minimum of X defence to be uncrushable, which is necessary for tanking bosses (this is no longer the case as of the wotlk expansion).

There's also be maximums- if you have 70% chance to hit, there's no point having more than 70% chance to crit, 'cause of the way hits are calculated.

I used to spend hours just calculating if item set A is better than B. It's a huge part of the game and people love it. Unfortunately, Blizzard has been simplifying the combat system a lot through expansions and patches so a lot of the original stats have been merged, replaced or simply removed.

Well technically a non-DK tank needs 102.4% avoidance to be capped. so there still is the X Defense requirement.

I was looking into LotRO, but then I took an arrow to the knee

(By that I mean I started playing Skyrim. That game is Time Well Wasted)

By that I hope you don't mean you pirate it from one of the few games fully supporting non-restrictive DRM, DRM that gives you features instead of restrcitions.

Pirating at all is for low lifes, but pirating from something that's making an active attempt to remove it's restrictions to allow the consumer to have a better product, is just lower than low.

Anyways, I don't pirate games. The only games I play are either f2p, or from Blizzard, and that's only because I get to put SC2 on my AIF as a competitive sport

I'm not a big fan of pirating games either; for one thing, it's rather easy to get viruses imo.


One memorable I remember is my friend torrenting Portal 1 during the free download period (anyone else remember), and he ended up getting a virus because of that. Had to wipe his hard drive to clear out the virus; I know I shouldn't be laughing but it was a really stupid thing to do.

That's when I got my copy of Portal. Loved it so much I actually paid for Portal 2.
I torrent all sorts of things. Never once got a virus. It's a matter of knowing safe sources.

The point of a torrent is that you don't know the source insectoid....... MD5 checksums and similar file checks can still make it safe, but when you torrent, you are downloading from complete strangers.
