Hi everyone , just joined the forum ,but have been a lurker here for sometime,I get alot of information from the Waterloo admissions discussions going on here.
I'm currently in Grade 12, and I'm wondering if I have a good chance of getting into the Engineering program at Waterloo with the courses I've taken.
Grade 12 Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Advanced functions
Calculus and Vectors
English (ENG3U and ENG4U, one each semester)
I'm wondering around how much % I have to get in each course, to be accepted ?
I'm either going to select one of these: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Nano, or Electrical Engineering.
Another, I don't know jack shit about programming. I never took any programming course so far.
I'm not taking the computer science course this year either, but, I don't think that will prevent me form getting in, but I'll try learning programming on my own in the summer.
Will this be a disadvantage for me when I apply ? I know that it isn't a requirement, but would they prefer a student who has taken the computer programming over me?
Any advice, comments, opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
~Pratzy |

I would recommend not putting your life into the hands of others and choose what you want to do; it does not matter if you can get into waterloo and will never know without trying.
But maybe I am just bitter about posts of these nature that end up going nowhere... |

If you plan on aiming for the bare minimum requirement to get in, you're likely not going to make it through any of those programs. |

You will want a low 80 overall average minimum (not guaranteed to get in) and 70 or higher in every course. This is based off what you can find on the internet. You will need higher than that to be confident that you will get in. However comp sci shouldn't be important if you are going into engineering programs other than comp sci or software |

Going by what is commonly said actually here on the forum would mean I am not a 4th year CS major at waterloo... So this is in reality a waste of time ? |

Many people here are in high school including myself (trying for waterloo next year)
You need a high average and euclid is also a help. Waterloo tends to have really competitive programs from what i know and have seen |
