Hi guys.. so Ive applied to various fields for university, one of which is computer science @ Waterloo (my #1 choice).
My top 6 marks are:
English: 93
Int Business: 90
Biology: 86
Physics: 82
Calculus: 80
Adv. Functions: 74 [sadly]
Average: 84%
I also have extracurricular activities (4 Clubs, 150ish volunteer hours)
I had a major improvement from last year, my average was low 70s, I switched schools and started focusing more.. I tried my best!
Do you guys think I will get accepted into the program? It's something I really want, and i know its difficult to get into...
Thank you! |

It's certainly possible, though I'd be hard pressed to think you can get into co-op with a sub-85 average. If not, you will still be considered for regular CS. Are any of these courses still in progress, in which case you have a chance to improve your marks? |

I attend a non-semestered school, so I'm currently taking 7 courses in total.
Only the advance functions mark is final, since half of the year is adv.func. and the second half is calculus.
I should have worked harder..
I'm just not used to the pressure since I had a low 70 average last year, and that was OK for me at that time:( |

So this means you have exams coming up, which is a really good chance to bring up some marks that will offset your low Advanced Functions mark. Check UW's general admission requirements as well as CS-specific requirements to make sure that your advanced functions mark isn't cause for you to not be considered. If it is, sign up for summer school (I think there is a way for universities to look at summer school marks if they know you are doing it). |
