I'm really thinkin' of setting up another monitor, but I'm not too sure of a couple of things. :3

Notes:
I have an nVidia 7300LE handling my VGA monitor right now.
I'm looking at an nVidia 9500, with 2 DVI ports. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4111742&Sku=E145-9504

1) Can I run my VGA monitor on my 7300, while using my other card?
1a) If so, how would that work with games? Would I just open them on the 9500 monitor?

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can run 2 different video cards on the same system. 2 identical video cards or 1 video card with 2 ports should be fairly easy to set up- most drivers make it simple.

Typically you'll have a 'main' monitor and then one or more auxiliaries. The main one is where your full-screen applications (games, movie players, etc) open too, unless there's an option to set a default monitor for full screen. The other screen might simply turn off, or it might display whatever was on it before. This varies by application in my (limited to OSX) experience.

Bear in mind I have very limited knowledge of this subject and I may be completely wrong.

1) Yes, absolutely.
1a) DirectX games run on your primary monitor by default. I don't know if you can change that, but you can certainly set which one is your primary through Windows' display settings.

@Insectoid, you only need identical cards if you want to set up SLI/Crossfire.
