Alright in my CE class, my friend got a beaten up old insprion, when you press the power button it does not turn on at all, instead the capslock and numlock lights come on and flash, it doesn't even get to the BIOS, nor will the screen turn on, or the fans or the HDD. I think its pooched, any ideas?

With some modding, yes. It's not easy though, you'll need an adapter to switch the laptop monitor cable to standard VGA (or DVI).

hm, think it'd be as easy as running power to it and then taking the inputs and wiring them into a connector? / know of any tutorials?

Alright I did some digging, and it looks like I would need a device controller. Does anyone know where I could obtain one?

Do you hear the POST beep? If you do, the problem is probably the monitor.

Okay, the monitor is probably fine then (and if it is broken, it's not what's causing the computer to not work).
