Opening Router Ports

I have a problem, like the hosting ones in the starcraft post, I need to open the prots on my router which isn't a problem accept for the router isn't on my computer it''s on my mom's which is a nice mac. I need to know how to access the router with getting really serios deeep in to Cisco Training.

What do you mean the router is on your mom's computer?

If it's a standalone router, jut go to its ip in a web browser. Otherwise, im not 100% sure what you're talking about.

That'd be great; if he had a cicso router... and given that this is a home router it's a good bet that he doesn't.

When you say that the router is on your mom's computer you mean that the computer is acting as the router? If not hten you can just put the router's IP address into your address bar in firefox (or, yuck, IE) and get to the admin pages; you may need a password though. If you do try "password", or "admin", or if it's an smc router I know that "smcadmin" is the default password. If you don't have permission to change the settings, or you're not really sure what you're doing I'd advise asking your parents to either do it, or make sure you're allowed to... angry parents are good at reversing everythign you do, cutting you off entirly, and making life miserable...

if ur router is set with default settings.. well then one of those should open your router setup page...(for a lot of routerS) if not .. check your router MANUAL...]

And if neither of those are it... ipconfig in cmd will print out your default gateway (router).

thanks for the idea i will eb able to try them soon, I tend to write late at nigth so things don;t always make sense. What i emant was it is a standalone router but apparently it can be accessed thorugh ,my moms computer. I will have to get the Ip and i will try that. Thanks guys
