This is just a platform game I have been working on.
How to Play:
Menu:
Left and Right to select. Enter to select
Game:
Arrow Keys to move, space to jump
Map Editor:
'S' to save
'L' to load
up and down to change map
left and right to change tile
click to place tile
Tile legend:
White - Delete
Brown - Fake Block
Green - Spawn point
Gray - check point
Blue - end level
Red - DEATH!!
Black - normal platform
Yellow - Invisible platform
Objective:
Get your purple box to the blue box to complete the levels game ends when their are no more level files
avoid red blocks as they kill you, grey boxes are checkpoints
Possible Future Features:
-Some kind of collection system
-teleporters
-enemies
-cooler background (either image support or idk...)
Not possible Future Features:
-More advanced graphics
I have a love of simplistic graphics and different colored boxes are as simple as they get besides pixels
Please give feedback and any features you would like I hope you enjoy ^_^

Great game! There is another game of this sort in the Turing Submissions which uses teleporters, gravity-killers , and "stick to the roof to go forward" things. You could refer to that for the development of version 2.
Otherwise, this is a great game and is executed very well (although my Norton went crazy (I hate Norton)).
Good luck for version 2.

I meant certain areas when you can defy gravity and fly for a while...I think the mentioned game had that.
[EDIT] BTW, I think this is the game which I was talking about: http://compsci.ca/v3/viewtopic.php?t=22641 [/EDIT]

Just to let people know my levels are not meant to be good. I suck at making levels they are mainly meant to show features of the game, feel free to make and post your own levels ^_^

Wow, that was rather addicting. I do agree more tile types to work with would be awesome.
I guess some ideas for some new tiles could be (including some previously stated ones):
- Gravity killers (temporarily kills gravity, ie flying)
- Gravity flippers/changers (while the map is not rotated, the ceiling becomes the new floor, or wall. Jumping brings you downward (in the case of you on the ceiling), and gravity pulls you back up)
- Rotate map (turns the map sideways/upside down. Gravity is normal)
- a patrolling bot that just moves forward turning as the wall does
- a slow pulsing laser that shoots across (vertically or horizontally)
- teleporters
- accelerators (think a trampoline or something, but shoots the player in the direction they are moving a distance
I'll post more ideas as I think of them.
Some of the things I suggested might not work well with solid colours, but if you keep it 8-bit graphics [drawn within Turing] it could keep to the overall theme.
I should also mention:
1) Your map 3 didn't have a start or finish point.
2) You should add a right click feature for map editing for a delete tile feature. Maybe a text on the top too telling you what tile brush you are on too would be helpful.
So far great work!
+bits!

Here is a small update to the game
Changes:
-Added Sidebar to the main game and the map editor
-Sidebar shows lives and level in game
-Sidebar shows Tile and description in map editor
-Added 4 direction gravity changer tiles (up, down, left, right)
-right click to delete tile now
- "p" pauses the game
- "c" clears a map
- made some basic levels to show off Gravity changers
- you die if you leave the screen
I appreciate the comments, and idea's very much, please continue to give any feedback, and any bugs you find, thank you ^_^.
Also please post any levels that you make

Awesome so far!
I have a map I'm making, I'll post when done.
Teleporters would be the next easy one to tackle..
EDIT:
Okay, I've made a couple maps. One is simplistically amusing, the other is rather difficult - there are hidden gaps in floors to death. Go to edit mode to see where.
If used credit appreciated (you can use my CompSci name [SNIPERDUDE] or my real name [Leo LeBlanc]).
Keep the features coming!

Hi, this is another update, just added a couple of more features
-Fixed bug with gravity change where you go through walls
-Added Teleporters
-Added Main Menu and GameOver pictures
-Added Title Screen
note: -the teleporters just pick a teleporter of the opposite color at random and travel there
-press down at a teleporter to use them
-game looks best at a resolution higher then 1024X768 because of window size
Thanks to everyone who has played and enjoyed Purply Box so far, and keep posting those levels, I shall give credit if I use them in the final version. Please post any comments, suggestions and bugs please. Enjoy ^_^
Edit: Here is a level my friend made, good luck and no cheating . just rename to the level you want and put in levels folder
