okay well lets just say that i had no clue why i applied to lifesci at u of t (mayb cuz when i applied i actually didn't hate bio yet). but i didn't fill in the college application until the very last minute, and my friends were like.. well don't waste ur money, fill it in. and so i did. I picked trinity college for lifesci.

the second question was
2. Write a creative piece (essay or story) in reaction to the image below. (500 words maximum)
http://database.trinity.utoronto.ca/profile/images/mask.jpg

and this is my response (i know it's long, but it's a funny read i assure you):

Quote:

Man? it would have been so much easier had the question be ?to write a creative piece describing your reaction to the question?. I probably had more reaction and emotion flowing through my head after reading the question than after seeing the picture. The picture is monotonous and rather un-emotionally-provoking. To have to write a 500-word essay on my nearly non-existent response to the picture probably ceased all releases of dopamine in my brain. I wonder which hormones trigger the sense of anger and fury? whatever they are, they probably flooded the millions upon millions of synaptic clefts of every possible part of my nervous system. At the same time there existed curiosity?why would Trinity College ask for a creative piece in regard to that specific image? Does it have any association or relationship to any aspect of what goes on in Trinity? Does it symbolize something of utmost importance? Or is it just a torture test of endurance for which ever new-come must endure? As I sit here typing sentences after dreadful sentences, clicking ?Word Count? on the top of the page every few words I typed, it stares at me with its ghastly eye sockets, seemingly mocking me with its faint and barely recognizable smile (one which you can only notice had you stared at it for what felt like eons). The emotionless mask covers the true face, or rather, the face of truth. To my interpretation, this is symbolic to the unknowable intention of this very question. After staring at it long enough, I tiptoed along the line between rationality and insanity. Unfortunately, I crossed the line; as insanity set in, I decided to stare at it in the eyes, hoping some deep connection will be made, or some unfathomable realization will come into the light?only to realize that it does not have eyes (the sense of gazing into those dark voids is never pleasant, even after getting used to them). My eyes salsa?ed between every possible pixel of that picture, for there isn?t a comfortable place for my eyes to settle?this picture is lacking, there is something missing, something important, and my eyes, no matter how hard they try, cannot find it. I have stared at it for well over a couple hours now, it seems as though I cannot exercise my creativity with regard to this picture. My curiosity remains as to the underlying intention of this question, and hopefully, if I am given the chance into Trinity, I might one day find out why a millions of my brain cells perished on this very day.

and well.. yesterday in the mail, guess what i got? acceptance into trinity college! =))) i was laughing so hard!!

It's probably one of the better responses that they've gotten. Also, there are a lot of other numbers that still satisfy "500 maximum" requirement Wink

Was a rather good read, thank you.
I question many (okay, pretty much all) of the things my school has and does put me through.
+bits for the entertainment.
