It case you haven't heard, Nitendo (Can't spell) is coming out with the DSi XL, with 33% bigger screens. All I can think of is 'Didn't the DSi come out last year?' In fact the DSi came out 362 days ago today. Plus the DS 3d is in the works. Are all these different DS versions a good thing? They are after all, back compatable. Is releasing a new version of the DS every year a good idea or a money grab?
Abobe does it.
But then, how many people illegally download software?
I think they should just focus all their mini projects and merge them for a bigger release (and spaced out a little better).
But at the same time, considering they are handheld consoles it's not as big of a problem as if it were a full system.
People will buy w/e nintendo makes. They *could* wait, culminate all their features, and release a really good product, but since they can release mini updates every 4 months or so and people will buy them, they do.
Just interested...whats with all the ponies and unicorns?
And I believe that they are just trying to copy Sony (a new PSP comes out each year) and are trying to overtake the PSP in the handheld/portable gaming sector by generating public interest in basically the same way as Sony (they had the original PSP, Slim and Lite, Brite and Lite, and PSP GO).
The only problem with the Iphone for gaming is the lack of buttons, computing capablities and dual screens. However you can get more apps and whatnot for the Iphone. I can see why it's beating the PSP.

What? What's wrong with the iphone for gaming? They it *has* touchscreen 'buttons'; it's multitouch. It has adequate computing capabilities as well. Also, the dual screen is a gimmick and often underused (especially considering that the touchscreen is only for the lower screen). The iPhone is a strong contender because it does more than the PSP and DS. It's a phone, MP3 player, whole bunch of app shit AND it plays games. No matter how you slice it, it's a better mobile device if you're stuck to owning one (unless you're really into the IPs on PSP or DS of course)

I'm not saying the Iphone is a bad device. I think it's very handly. It just is more multipurpose than the DS.

Both. Brilliant. A plastic hinged device that will break at about the same pace as new models roll out. So, "customer think" changes from "gee, I have to buy a new one of the same thing" to "hey, I should upgrade".
But, on the XL ... old guys opinion. I prefer my Lite on first exposure, the XL feels a tad 'puffy' in comparison. That opinion could change.
Cheers

Nintendo is acutely well know for the quality of there products in terms of durability and has an amazing warranty and repair that would likely pair your DS for free even out of warranty. They only recently stopped repairing NES systems when the Wii came out.
I have a game boy pocket, color, advanced, DS and DSi and they all work fine with no signs of stopping. The only problem i have had is the batteries in some of the old gameboy games have died and they no longer save correctly, luckily this is no longer an issue for DS and DSi games.

Dan;
You need to veg out more hours with a DS. I've replaced two with borked hinges. Not Nintendo's fault really, just a lot of use across the family members.
I'm a Nintendo fan boy. The two trips to the gaming store to pick up replacements, was with gusto. "Hey, I get to upgrade".
