|
|
I was recently reading some FMLs and I found a particularly interesting one in which a girl went on a first date with a guy and ended up having to go to the ATM because he refused to pay for her $6 salad.
This brings up an interesting question: in 2010, does any reason remain for men to pay for women on dates? |

I earn ridiculously more money than my girlfriend does. So I suppose that's a remaining reason. |

I say, unless the guy/girl asks the person out to [insert expensive classy restaurante here] and hints their paying the entire bill, both members should expect to pay at least their half in worse case senario. Though the guy really should stay classy and also assume to pay for both if he asked her out. |

Invitee pays, unless there is an agreement on how to split the bill before hand.
[edit] At a bar this doesn't work. |

edit:
Brian you may well be the last person on Earth who reads FML still |

This is redundant. This is a computer science forum. Girlfriends are a mystery to us nerds, something we might read about in something written by Tolkien.
Back on topic, it's a complicated scenario with many variables. If it's a 'first date', the guy should pay to make a good impression. If the girl has already been your friend/girlfriend for some time, sharing the bill is more appropriate since you already know each other and should be comfortable discussing that stuff. If you're married, well, you share most of your coin anyway, so it doesn't make a difference. This is all from a logical point of view, however, so it may not apply to the chaos of real life. |

Err yes. I blame being tired and spending entirely too much time doing sequence diagrams. |

Life advice : girls < 18 don't like guys, they like money. offering to pay shows you have money (even if you don't really, like me! lol). Thus, you attract more girls! |

Shuddup, I wanted to use a big word. I chose to use it incorrectly for my own exorbitant reasons. I misused 'exorbitant' to prove my point to cover my ass. |

A sad state the English language is in when 'redundant' is considered a big word. |

Hmm, when fighting for women's rights, when did they get to pick and choose? Which is it, treated equally or 'like a lady'? |
