Hey guys,
So for our end-of-year Java ISU, we are making a game and I want to get started early. In grade 10, I made a Mario type multiplayer game, which kids in grade 10 apparently still play. What I want to do is create a game that is original and fun to play. I really like the style of SNES with it's pixelly graphics. I am currently learning how to use the LAN to play multiplayer and I hope that can be a part of the game. So far, I've come up with the idea of a top-down racing game. This would be fun and you could have bots play with you, or friends over LAN. I was thinking that the game would have different levels and power-ups to keep it fresh. Customizable maps may also be possible.
Anyways, I was wondering what you guys think and I would really appreciate it if you guys offered any ideas of a game. Also, I was thinking about this, but what qualities of a game make it fun and successful? |

Easy to use controls. Too many times I have played games that have so much potential, but lose major points with stupid control setups. Maybe a custom controls menu? |

Turbo, Weapons, Traps. And personally, I prefer the map rotating as to the single vehicle you control rotating. |

I'm going to agree big time with Zren's "map rotating as to the single vehicle you control rotating" coment. Makes it easier to navigate, and is quicker to get a hang of. |
