My cousin asked me a question the other day and i wasn't too sure of the answer...
Is it possible to transfer universities after your first term during first year of university? (So be in your new university by the start of the second term).
I've heard it's possible to do so. A faculty member from Waterloo said it's possible, but what I'm wondering is what marks does the new university have to look at? By the time you apply for a transfer, midterms won't even be completed...
Anyways, any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. |

it is very possible, but there are many things to take into account. firstly, it would help to find out the school which your cousin is transferring from and to. ex, it is harder to transfer to waterloo, but still possible. also keep in mind your cousin may have to retake some math or cs (depending which major) classes that weren't transferrable to the new school.
not sure about what the new school will look at, someone else should be able to answer that for you.
what i said mostly pertains to cs/math/engineering students, and i now realize it's not too probable that your cousin is in one of these, so take that as you will. |

The only marks at that point would be your high school marks. The main problems with the transfer will be the short time-frame, and that students at the new university will not yet have a chance to drop out to make new spaces. As endless points out, it is not guaranteed that all credits will transfer over. |

Actually endless he is in computer science and is wanting to go to waterloo/mac.
His highschool marks weren't stellar by any means, just average. So would the first term transfer still be possible? I've been trying to research on conditional transfers, if they even exist, but haven't been able to find anything on it. |
