				| Recently, a friend of mine downloaded a trial version a anti-virus software (that will not be named), and it gave about 100 something virus reports. It demanded him to purchase a license in order to delete the viruses. It also gave information for each virus found.
Maybe I am just newbe about this kind of stuff on the net, but is this just another crappy scam?

Anyone found similar things like this?

Btw, I told him about the free ver of AVG as a solution.

				| There are several scams that work like this. Some used to even be advertised late night on t.v. comerceals a few years ago. The worst part is the anti-virus you end up paying for is close to malware or adware it's self.
I recall testing one threw wine on Linux, witch ended up reporting a bunch of worms and trojans that would have been imposable.

Your friends best bet would be to try and uninstall the fake anti-virus and install a more well know and free alternative.
