Yes, and I am aiming to get a 110/100 so that I might have a chance of getting >90 Very Happy

Okay, I think I sparked a few too many sarcastic flames... In that case, I'll raise you 199.

I did Cayley. One of the questions looked like it could have been on Project Euler.

I believe so, yes. Euclid is a well known contest. Although, I don't know about the scholarships...

Actually, I doubt it, since only Waterloo gets automatic access to your marks (seeing as how the contest is run by them). I guess the only place it might play a role for other universities is in their equivalent of Waterloo's AIF.

Yes, the AIF would be the place to put it on

so it's now getting very close to the contest (next tuesday) and this morning i decided to look up last years average on euclid and these are the numbers i found.

Average (Mean) 46.4
Certificate Cutoff 56
School Medal Cutoff 46
Number of Contestants 16108

does this mean that the average was actually 46.4/100? i mean i know the comc average was in the 40's, but it seemed by looking at previous tests that the euclid would be around a 70 average. just wanting to see if i am reading this correctly.

the COMC's average was 40/80, whereas the euclid's average is 46.4/100.

Oh how great, I have a group presentation in English that I can't miss on the morning of the Euclid contest. Now I can't write it, and with my mediocre average, getting into Waterloo is going to be hard

@ dark just skip it, ur presentation mark probably won't count toward the 2nd term ouac so doesn't matter. just try harder to bring ur marks up later so that ur mark won't drop that much in the final.
I'm also skipping a physics quiz tmr which means 0 on that quiz.

and i was looking at past contests...

did 2008 and 2007 already i estimate i would get 8/10 questions on 2008 and 7/10 questions on 2007 (i counted my answer as right if my steps are right except just made stupid mistakes)

if the pattern follows i would get 9/10 on tmr's euclid Smile

9/10 would be pretty decent haha.
judging by the previous contests, i'm fine until the probability and sequence questions, then i have to grind it out.

bring on lots of trig questions please!

good luck everyone.

That would be a horrible idea. Marks are still being submitted and the English presentation may or may not be part of the second term university mark. Furthermore, bringing your mark up after suffering a big blow is not as easy as it may seem. Getting a 0 on something significant will probably destroy whatever mark you were trying to achieve and not be able to bring it back. Lastly, English is probably one of the courses that most universities pay the most attention on and so I would not be trying to 'game' it. That would also depend on what mark you are getting since you might risk it if you have a sufficiently high mark in the course - though I don't recommend it.

I would think universities would look more towards your actual marks rather then a contest score (Though, I'm not sure if this is true. Perhaps PR, in the case of waterloo, can give more information there). In conclusion, Dark, do your english presentation since it will probably be more important then your contest score.
