So i got 89% avg last sem and this sem i think i'm gonna get around the same... Do i need to get 90s to get into computer engineering in waterloo or u of t? im currently taking all gr11 AP courses and planning to drop it all next year so i think my avg will be a lot higher ><.... But i'm really scared since it looks like yu need a 90+ % to get into software and comp eng ><

You do not need 90+ to get into these programs. Cutoff is low to mid 80's, depending on demand. AIF is important, not just marks, so don't drop the AP courses just to pull your average up. APs look good to admissions.

Engineering in general tends not to do early acceptance. It might be a bit harder to get into CE than CS because there is only one cohort (supposed to be 100, but they overshoot somewhat) as compared to the 400-odd target of CS, but there is also less demand for CE.

I don't have specific details of cutoffs and accept ratios. What I quoted was from their Web pages for prospective students.

I have a feeling you won't have a problem getting in with your avg and decent extracurriculars.
I got an offer from u of t ce in early march. actually, they gave me ce as an alternate offer for eng sci, but havent denied me for eng sci. i applied with about a 90 avg, like you, with some extracurriculars: some contests (most hosted by uw, so not sure how seriously ut takes them), 3 sports, a club pres, another club's vice pres, and several clubs' member.

SE is likely similar to CE/EE. Nano might expect slighly higher grades, simply by the virtue of being the newest Engineering program.

that link doesn't appear to work at the moment. Since this thread is asking about University of Waterloo -- they post their requirements at http://www.findoutmore.uwaterloo.ca/admissions/programs.php

May I request more stories like "I got in to Comp. Eng with a xx% and a _______ AIF.", just so I can get a better idea of the grades breakdown for this year?
