Hello, just want to ask what marks are waterloo looking for for an early acceptance to their programs (compsci more or less, but don't know which one yet). are they gonna be looking at solely my grade 11 marks? i'm in grade 11 right now, and my last sem avg is 94.25, but this sem probably gonna drop because of english, but i should still be able to maintain a 92/93 avg overall.

bout what marks would guarantee early acceptance?

they don't publish such numbers. Personally, I feel like 90s should do you well (I've got my CS acceptance significantly earlier than Engineering).

Though even then, every acceptance is a conditional acceptance. If your gr12 marks drop significantly, it will be retracted.

My offer of admission says I have to maintain an average greater than 75. My application average was 91ish.

I got accepted with a grade 11 average of 90, and grade 12 semester 1 average of 88-89 ish. I was working in all of grade 11, and I am in a few clubs, and I volunteer.

The procedure changes from year to year. They compute an "admission score" in which the major component is marks, but other AIF information contributes. CS/Math tend to send out offers earlier than Engineering.

for early acceptance, you have to send in the AIF correct? I'm thinking ahead for next year (I'm g10 right now)

@ saltpro...... i don't think so.....i was reading in some other threads that some people got their acceptance letters even b4 they sent in their AIF forms.......i think for early accpetance marks are definitely more important......

No, for anything in the math and engineering faculty I'm pretty sure you have to send in an AIF to get any kind of acceptance. I know that for some other degrees you don't need to (eg. my friend got accepted into archeology at UW back in December, and he didn't send an AIF).

Incorrect, I got my acceptance for Computer Science before handing in my AIF. Keep in mind it is recommended that you write your AIF but you are not forced - you should still write the AIF anyway.

i didn't know where to put this, and i didn't want to start a new thread... just wondering. for engineering waterloo wants a mid 80s average... what exactly is mid 80s... like 83 - 87 ?
also what would be my chances of getting in with a 83% average ? waterloo is my first, but i got mcmasters as my second.

maybe 84~86? Being below (or on) the suggested cut-off line is generally not a good place to be, but there's more than just your mark that goes into this decision, so you'd just have to wait and see.
