When I go to open Visual Studio 2005 now on my new Laptop (running vista) i get an error and it wants me to download a compatibly patch, and install it.
So following the link I download the file and when i go to install it (and yes the patch is meant for vista) i get a weird error saying that the specified program can not be located.
Is there a way i can still use Visual studio 2005 to program in VB or do i have to buy a newer version?
For all of you wondering why this is a problem, i am currentaly working on a game and it is almost done...annoying eh?

How about posting the actual error. Is it the patch that can't be located or VS05?

Pretty sure you can get Visual Studio 2008 Express for free from Microsoft.

Almost positive the compatibility issues with Vista are gone in Visual Studio 2008...
So, yes this should solve your problem.
