Hi

I'm currently in my second year of Bachelors of Administrative studies - IT at york. I was planning to take a transfer to another university. I wanted to know if York is a good university to study IT. I also wanted to know about other universities which offer more reputable (as compared to york) IT programs combined with business.

Thanks

Sorry I can't answer your question, as I'm also looking for answers Smile
How do you like York generally? Apart from the strike issue. I'm looking to get into comp.sci. at York starting from May, so I'm curious about it too. By the way, can't you just take a double major - one in IT program and another in business administration?

York is a good university but it is not known for it's CS program. Even though averages might be high at york but I do know there are better universities out there for CS. However, at the same time I won't say the program is terrible. We have good profs, excellent infrastructure for CS students and a very friendly campus environment. So it really depends on whether you want to go by the rep. or do you want to be at the university because you like the program and the campus.
If you want to get into a reputable CS program while staying in toronto you can try UofT. UofT is more competitve as compared to York (not just admissions but the students as well). A lot of people tend to transfer to York after their first year at UofT because they find UofT very competitive and the environment on campus not very friendly.
......

No, it is not possible to do double major with IT and business admin. But, a lot of universities have started offering business programs with specialization in IT.

Great thanks!
What year you are? I am applying to both ITEC and Comp.Sci. at York for May and will see which dept. will accept me. If both I'll probably choose CS. But even if ITEC, I think it is possible to choose a lot of CS courses there to even qualify for a grad school in CS. What do you think of employment prospects for IT (not CS) students? Can they work as developers or only as analysts?
