We all (most of us) know the trick of adding "fmt=18" to the end of the urls to get much better quality, and better sound.
How can I download these videos keeping them in that highquality? When I download them using the firefox add on "better youtube' it seems to put them back into old sound/video quality.
Having the better audio is very important in my situations.
Thanks. |

I tried this on a a few videos. It may not be foolproof but whatever.
It downloads in MP4 quality.
1. Download CacheViewer
2. Using your &fmt=18 php trick, load the video. Watch the url in the status bar to find out where the file is located.
3. Open up CacheViewer [Tools -> Cacheviewer]
4. In the Filter: Enter some major keywords from the url. [eg. googlevideo]
5. Double click the one you want. Under MIME/Type it should read video/mp4. The download ought to be fast since you've already technically downloaded it and it's still in Firefoxes cache. |
