I find the layout to be horribly distracting. The content does not stand out at all.
At least in the old layout my eyes were not constantly diverting towards the sidebar and other links that are not related to the story. |

Really?
Because right now the sidebar is just categories, which I find a lot less distracting than the bright/colourful button links I've had in the old design (they are now in the footer).
Though I suppose the sidebar could be scrapped completely. Now that I look at it, it doesn't seem to be at all useful on an article page. |

I agree with rdrake, the new layout is worse than the last to me.
I liked the old layout because it set up the newest blogs choronolgically and it was simple to find everything, now I have to scan the site finding what's new. |

I think the new layout is horrible. What's content and what's navigation isn't clear, and when I do figure out the content is it's small and seemingly unimportant compared to the recent posts / categories bit. There is only one recent post instead of many, which is bad since I don't want to have to go to hte archives just to read your previous post.
That's only on the first screenful too; I didn't bother scrolling down.
I much preferred the previous version and even it had issues. |

another issue I had was when I tried to find out what was recently published I had clicked a link to what I thought was a compsci blog post, but I was redirected to some random blog |

You have to specify what about (either) version you like/dislike, for the opinion to count |

Seems a bit over simplified now, from the three I prefer the first version best. You need at least some navigation for recent posts, etc. I guess my bias is that I thought the original was great, it was one of the first blogs I've seen that were easy to read and navigate. |

It needs some kind of way to get to older articles easier, or like an archive page to browse through them. I kind of liked the categories thing you had going in the last version too.
However, you did keep my favourite part of the new design anyway, the banner at the top of the page with the picture in it looks pretty slick |

Newest = v3, newer = v2, old = v1
v1 > v3 > v2
[edit]
I do like the header image though; I do not remember if it was on the old one or not. |
