Title says it all, i need to place well in some of those for university. Thanks in advance.

Those are not typically limited to a geographical area. University of Waterloo's Math and CS contests seem to be the nation-wide de facto standard for such things.

There are a bunch of other CS contests though -- ECOO, IOI, and our very own DWITE.
