You've got to take Econ 102 with Larry Smith, if you can.

Psych 101 could be interesting, though I hear that varies greatly from professor to professor.

Yea I was also thinking Psych. It's a possibility I guess.

Hmm... I'm taking Econ 101 with Larry Smith and Phil 100J.

Is Phil 145 more reccomended?

I am taking PHIL 145 right now, and I am only getting ~70% in it so far. That's like 15% lower than my lowest math/cs mark. So I guess it depends on the prof.

Larry is good. But if you want an easy course, thats probably not a good idea.

Any of you know how it is? REV was one of my last choices but oh well. How is the food?

REV isn't too far until its winter (Dec - Feb). Then imagine trekking in the snow for 25 minutes to class.

I took PHIL 145 four years ago... I'd say it was the most useful general course I've ever taken. It's not really helpful for math/CS but important for "everyday" kinds of thinking. It really should be taught in high school, maybe even starting in elementary school.

Larry Smith is something else. I went to his ECON 102 lecture yesterday even though I've already taken the class. This part was unexpected:
[Heavy rain]
[Lights go out, immediately somebody goes "yes"]
[A second later lights come back on]
Larry: ...I heard that...

Snow? In Waterloo? Ha!

Trekking to class is always easy. Heck I rode a bike all winter one year. If you live on campus and your complaining about the distance then it's probably a sign that you really need to get in shape.

The snow will be bad for at most one trip or two. The campus is generally very well-plowed and salted (though I can't say I'd recommend biking).

I walked 3-4km to UW for all of the Winter term (Jan->Apr), and it was a bit of a slog...but I certainly made it, and I'm not in the greatest shape ever.

I'm in V1 and I definitely wasn't looking forward to the snow, perhaps cuz in high school I had to walk a while in the snow to my bus stop, which sucked no matter how long it was.

Good thing the snow isn't too bad all the time. What a relief Smile

I don't have to imagine it? I walked about 30 minutes to and from school every day, and that extended to 45 minutes if the sidewalk plows had gone through. If they hadn't, I'd normally take about 1 hour slogging through slush and snow. If you're complaining about a 25 minute walk, then there's probably something wrong...

Oh man only two more days to choose and I'm no where near choosing. I'm most certainly taking Phil 145 but the other one...I'm just not sure. Psych is probably slightly higher on the list but just barely. Economics sounds okay as well but I have no idea what it entails. I should look into that first...though I'm not really into business oriented courses if that's what Economics is. Oh man...this decision is KILLING me.

I think compsci blends better with economics, since they both require mathematics and problem solving, more so than philosophy. Also, compsci grads with business oriented courses are more desirable in the workplace, because they have more skills and knowledge that are applicable in the business world. While philosophy, well, philosophy reminds me of a scene in family guy where peter is imagining one of his great grandfathers, someone says to peter's grandfather "why don't you get a job" , and he replies " wwwwwhhhhhhyyyyy".

Everyone, regardless of their major, should take microeconomics. It shouldn't even be elective. Macro too if you find you like the material.

Econ was awesome. Though it really helps to attend all the lectures.
