Ok. Tony, Dan I want to say thank you for the two weeks I lasted here. You guys were great. Your mods suck and apparently like to rip apart your users.
I would love to stay here and help people learn and learn myself, but they arent willing to allow me to.
They have asked me to leave the site and I will be the bigger people and do so.
I wish you two the absolute best in all of your future endevours.
To all of the haters:
I love you all,
but your wish is my command.
I wish you guys the best as well.
I hope you can all get over your selves and become civilized human beings but right now, your far from it.
I didnt really enjoy the stay here because I got ripped on from day one.
Put yourself in my position.
But, I know this will be a big rip fest on me.
Say what you want on here.
Its all for you to get your anger out on me.
So this is my goodbye.
Farewell all.
Sincerely,
-DaveAngus |

This post was moved from GD to Off Topic by rdrake for good reason, it bleongs there.
Secondly if you had a problem with our mods you should have contacted tony or i rather then keeping a flame war going in a thread that i have now locked. |

Well there was nothing I could do. haha
Its funny but all of the mods were against me. 10 (or how ever many) mods against one little user. Who would win? |

The happy birthday to Mackie thread has been just about the only thread I've actually read on CompSci.ca in the past couple of months, and I'm pretty ashamed of it. DaveAngus, I don't blame you for leaving. I would too if I were in your situation. Maybe I effectively am, as reading that disgusted me just as much as if it were directed at me.
Clayton, md, you two would do well to not talk down to the users, or anyone, as you do. You may think you're high and mighty, and you may think this for a long time yet, but while you do, keep Kipling's words in your head:
"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch..."
Realize that, though your social style may suit the crowds you hang out with, you will meet people who are not as calloused as you or your regular friends. Be careful not to think everyone wants to trade stinging words with you.
DaveAngus, you have my apologies. I hope you can take something positive from this experience. I think there are times in life where we must lower ourselves and trudge through the shit of this world so that we never forget that it's there; there are other times to rise above it all and walk on. Walk on, Dave!
I think everyone here knows that I've not been an active member of this site for a long time now. The reason is that I've lost my infatuation with computer science. Studying math (and to a much lesser extent, physics) at Waterloo has opened my mind to wonderful things, things that I find so much more fascinating than computer science. This is just a personal taste. I have taken a great deal from this site and its people. My deepest thanks go out to Dan and Tony for the creation of CompSci.ca, and to wtd for teaching me most of what I know about computer science. Another reason for my leaving is related to events like these. I've seen too many of them. Somewhere along the line, the atmosphere of this place turned harsh and cliquey, which is pretty ridiculous, given that this is an online computer science help forum.
I may continue to lurk a bit, as I have been for over a year; I wanted to explain to you all why I stopped contributing a long time ago. Best wishes to everyone and farewell! |

You're right - it went too far. And Dave is only partially to blame. Sorry Dave, and anyone else whom I may or may not have offended. |

Cervantes, I couldn't have said it better myself.
The worst part about this is that it's affecting some of the more impressionable members. Beleive it or not, but a lot of the users look up to us. Most of us have a good knowledge of computer science and a lot of us are attending university and thus the younger members sometimes try to emulate us. Thus, as the senior members we should set an example regardless of how we behave in real life. The result of all this immature behaviour among the mods is that the community as a whole is degrading and that's a sad though for me as I've been here for quite some time and have witnessed the growth and development of this community.
I'm sorry to hear you've lost interest in computer science, Cervantes. I enjoyed some of the descussions we had in the past. You will be missed. I wish you all the best in your mathematical endeavours |

The mods did make some bad decisions, but so did I.
They deserve a second chance. As do I.
Please dont harp on them.
They have taken enough as is. |
