PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:22 pm   Post subject: Left and Right.

It's getting boring, so I figure I'd ask more pointless questions.

Which shoe do you put on first?

Which pant leg?

With which hand do you write? Draw?

Operate your mouse?

Punch?

Fire a gun (I am, of course, referring to firearms produced by Nerf and Larami!), which hand would be on the grip?

If you were to wield a sword (one handed) which hand would you use most often? If two handed, which hand would be nearest to the guard?

How about bows... which hand would you use to draw the string?

Throw a ball?

Hockey stick / golf club? (I believe it's the lower hand, yes?)

Me?
Shoes: right
Pants: right
Writing/drawing: left
Mouse: right
Punch: right
Gun: left hand
Sword: right hand for both
Ball: right
Hockey/golf: right

I apologize if I've confused the more important hand on some of the two hand scenarios. Originally I was just going to ask about the shoes just for the wtf effect but then I got curious.

To the lefties: how did/do people react to your "affliction"? My parents always hated it; when I was 6 or something (< 10) my dad would threaten to cut off my left hand if he saw me writing with it so I always had to hide behind a couch or something when I wanted to write. My sister used to tell me that people who use their left hands don't live as long (Wikipedia mentions that there was a study around this time which suggested the same thing but was later discredited; thanks for scaring the shit out of me, bitch Sad). Nowadays my main problem is writing tests in old classrooms full of sig-heil-right-handers-rule style desk/chair furniture.

The weird thing is that I can't even write with my left hand that well. I'm even worse with the right hand but that's probably more because I can't stand to hold a pen or pencil with it.

Usually right, sometimes left.

Right.

Either one.

Right for most things, left for putting short distances.

Yes.

Nobody seems to make a big deal of it. Sometimes people would get all excited finding a left handed person in the room for reasons unknown.

Don't have to deal with them now, but I hated them in the old high school lecture theatre.

Don't suffer from this.

Oh yes, I just quoted all that for no real reason.

I think some good off topic topics whould be a nice way to keep things going in the summer.

Shoes: What ever one i pick up first (witch is what ever one is closest)
Pants: Random, i seem to do it diffrenly depedning on the day.
Writing/drawing: right tho i can wright just as good with my left (witch is badly with both)
Mouse: depedns on what i am doing, if i need to use the arow keys i use the mouse in my left hand. if i need to use letter on the right hand side or middel i use right. For noraml navigtion i ushely use right.
Punch: I don't punch peoleop :p
Gun: normaly the nerf and water gund are prity basied to the right hand so i use that or it is hard to use. Have never used a real gun tho.
Sword: right for one hand tho i don't like one handed swords, and the two handed one whould change based on how i am attacking.
Bow: Have not used a bow enought to know.
Ball: right
Hockey/golf: don't play enought to know.

I have bad fine mortor control so i can ushely do just as bad with either hand, i noramly use right tho just becues it is more combital with most things.

Right for everything, except maybe not for shoes and pants. I won't know until tomorrow morning, but even then if I think about this question before I put on my pants/shoes it ruins the experiment. I'm totally collapsing my waveform.

I do everything right-handed / legged except three things:
1. Shake when I'm done (and I'm not talking about handshakes).
2. When I interlock my fingers, I do it the way a lefty would do it; left thumb on top.
3. I put on my pants left leg first (although, that seems like a normal right-legged mentality, because I intuitively balance on my stronger right leg first when I'm clothing myself).

Actually a righty would have the left thumb on top. Razz

Right for everything except pants. I put both feet in first. I kinda jump in Razz

Quote:

Whichever is closer, to do otherwise seems silly.

Quote:
Which pant leg?

Both, and like codemonkey kinda jump into them; but without the jumping.

Quote:

Right, or left if I have hurt my right. Writing upside down with my left hand is hard though.

Quote:
Operate your mouse?

Right, except when I have hurt my left. I broke my wrist a while back and I had to use my mouse with my left hand for a month. I actually got quite good at playing FPSs.

Quote:
Punch?

Both! Only a silly person punches with but one hand.

Quote:
Fire a gun (I am, of course, referring to firearms produced by Nerf and Larami!), which hand would be on the grip?

Right, then the second gun goes in the left. If it's a two handed gun the trigger is in the right hand.

Quote:

Right.

Quote:

Right, though I have tried left with a compound bow... my aim sucked.

Quote:
Throw a ball?

right.

Quote:
Hockey stick / golf club? (I believe it's the lower hand, yes?)

Right iirc, though I haven't played hockey in a LONG time. Lacross I played over my left shoulder left hand at the top).

Whichever is closest usually ends up being the left due to the way I take off my shoes

Mazer wrote:

Left.

Mazer wrote:

Write with the right, draw with the left.

Mazer wrote:

Operate your mouse?

Depends on how I feel.

Either or. I am left-eye dominant though, but I can't work a bolt-action rifle left-handed for some reason... so I combine the two.
Mazer wrote:

One-handed: Right
Two-handed: Left

Right
