PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 11:58 pm   Post subject: Another Snake Game!

This is my first snake game from my comp sci final project from last semester (February). Its not too great, but I thought I would like to share it anyways, maybe improve on some areas if the need arises.

Anyways, with all the old games being “modernized” and made multiplayer in our gaming world (tetris ds for example), I wanted to do the same, so I made a multiplayer snakes game. It can support up to 4 human players (although the keyboard might be a little crowded). No computer AI though. Look for the keys for each player in the instructions witch should be entered from in game.

The multiplayer thing is like tron, but still keeps the game play of snakes. You eat food, grow bigger, but like tron, you try to outlast or trap your opponents.

Now the good part is the abilities you get to use. Each piece of food you eat will give you some points depending on the color of the food towards a charger at the top of the screen. Your charger has a box the same color as your character. Anyways, there should be an abilities button (look at instruction) that you can TAP to scroll through your list of abilities. If you want to use the ability, HOLD the button when the colored box is over the ability you want to use (for 4s to be safe). The last ability to the right is an assortment of random abilities that can either help you or do something crazy. You can only use the ability if the words are flashing (showing that ability is charged). The abilities to the left are charged before the abilities to the right. Try to gather up lives, place mines, and speed upso that you can outlast your opponents and reach the food before them.

Because it was a requirement to use something with binary files in the project, I made mandatory logins for 1 player modes. Simply say N for no log in when it asks if you have a login already, and create a 3 letter username, plus some password. Once you have a login, the next time you play 1 player you can say Y you have a username and login to your account. In addition PRIZES WILL BE AWAREDED TO SCORES IN ONE PLAYER MODE (all prizes awarded will be unzipped to the zipped folder. You will need winzip for the prize to be unzipped, i have no idea what will happen if you dont have winzip, but either a crash or nothing at all Very Happy ). The prizes are nothing special, some backgrounds, video, and pieces of code, its just something to keep you playing. Dont try to get the last prize, i dunno what I was thinking when i set the amount of points needed, but I'm sure the score you have to get is 7000 points (which is a lot).

And last but not least THE BACKGROUND IS SUPPOSED TO DISTRACT YOU! They are not really a part of the game, just background used to raise the mark, lol. You don’t need to dodge whatever is flying around in the background. It kinda fits the story since the characters are frolicking through the flowers.

The highscore, instructions, and even a story file is found on the first screen in the game.

Enjoy!

P.S. Sorry, I had to use some sort of file uploader (rapidshare). I tried attaching it, but it kept saying sending request and waiting for response from the site, but there was never any uploading happening.

Also, I forgot to mention that this game is based on the game LocoRoco found on the PSP. I just like that game, so I decided that will be my theme Wink
