Civ 4...opinions and debug help

Hey guys!! I just got civilization 4 the other day and I love it!! I'm just asking your opinions:

who is your favourite leader? why? your favourite strategy?

also, I'm having a bit of a problem. my computer just meets the min reqs. usually (I figure it's the RAM) whenever I play a standard or a larger map, Whenever I get a world wonder complete, the screen goes to the video...but it's only the blue backround. no ok button, not video, no nothing. the sound crackles, and I have to error terminate. is it just my RAM? or my graphics card? (NiVidia GeForce)

They already made 4? I never even played the first 3. I am so far back in gaming now-a-days.

About the error, you should try posting your OS, how much ram you have, and your video card to get some good feedback.

As much as Civ4 is an amazing game, like most of the games in the series, the best place to get such help would be the semi-official forums.

As for strategy... Take over my continent quickly, build, advance, build, take over the world. None of those cheap political victories and such.

actually, guys, problem solved... I found the .ini file and changed some numbers... it works now!!

so now this is just an opinion peice. preach on... I'll start:

I usually play either the germans (Fredrick) or the mongolians (kublai khan) because of the cultural bonus. it is so useful in a war to get the enemy to defect to your side!

and that right there is my strategy. expand fast to take as much land as possible. now, culture up your boder provinces while building military. when the opponent defects, rush em'!

I'm usually greek, I only play small maps, with 2-3 opponents (mostly 2), my laptop is well below the minimums so I can't have huge games

I have to turn all the settings to the minimums, and as the game progresses there are noticeable waits between things happening....but its still a great game!


I usually attempt to flip cities via culture, so I'll build right near their cities and build culture things like librarys, or just culture.
