How do I download Java? Like so I can type in code and run it (like Turing)

you, um, wow ... java, like turing ... hmmm im perplexed by this question. both in your ignorance, and your audacity. if youre looking for something "like turing" holtsoft DID make a java bastardization called "Ready to program" but it, like turing is not free

Sorry, I typed that in a hurry.

People at my school started programming with JAVA, more specifacally "Ready to program with Java"

I don't really know what that is, and I saw it was like turing, so yeah...

Guess it's not free...

Where can I download a Java compiler I guess I should say...

You would get a Java compiler from Sun, for free.

to let you know, most of the code you will be using in Ready(tm) will not run in a pure java environment, sorry to break it to you Confused i had this same assinine problem. (back in grade 11).

It is not like he has to program using the libraries included with Ready. The Ready IDE can compile "pure" Java code. The only problem is that the compiler it uses is outdated. If you have a teacher that cares about the course he/she will not teach you Java with Ready's libraries.
