I made this game when my friend asked me to make him a jumping procedure. While making it, I got a little carried away.... and well, I made Jetman. I nice thing I did with this game is that it automatically resizes to fill your whole screen, no matter what resolution you are using. If anyone likes this game, I could finish up some other levels that I've started working on and upload them as well.

here's a screen
Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

as usual, here's the rapidshare link http://rapidshare.de/files/32450208/Jetman.zip

EDIT: OOOPS! Almost forgot the controls! Use the left and right keys to move, ummmm, left and right.Razz press the right 'Ctrl' key to fly, and once you get a weapon, press up to shoot.

Fun AND challenging! Good graphics too!

I tried 4 or 5 times and everytime except once, I died before getting the weapon. The one time I did get it, I died right after Sad

Great job!

edit: dunno if this is a bug or intentional... is the collectable coin supposed to be moving while you're flying? The logical answer is no, but I'm thinking it might be yes because otherwise it'll be hard to get them.

Also, you should have it so that you can restart the game without closing the exe and reopening it.

i found the same thing NikG did. Not only the coin but the spider looking thing on the ground was all partially miving with the player. Overall good job.

And yeah, I died qretty quick too. Perhaps make the jet more powerful in terms of acceleration?

The coin staying in the same position while your flying is intentional. Otherwise, they would be almost impossible to get. Eventually after I complete a few more levels, i'm going to have a shop at the end of each level where you can buy upgrades such as armour, better jetpack, and maybe even a more powerful gun. Btw, here's a tip for defeating the enemy. Stick close to the ground and then right after you dodge his attack, fire immediately while he's still on the ground. This way your sure to hit him every time. (There's also a cheat to kill him in one hit, but i'll let you figure that one out by yourselves)

Also, if your finding the game hard, do a run without trying to collect any coins first.

Great game!

I also died pretty quickly.

A couple of things, and please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to critisize because I can honestly not do any better. Just a couple of notes if you plan on continueing to make this.

a) Lag when the crazy blue monster is on the screen. I can understand this, but mayber try fixing it for the future.

b) When, and if, you get behind the enemy, the enemy cannot turn around. He continued to shoot at where you would be if you were in front of him. But that was not the case.

Once again, not trying to be critical, just pointing these out for your own improvement if you plan on taking this further.

Hmmm.... I occaisonally get an error in the middle of the prog. E.g. "A run-time error has occurred in this program. Line 412 : Process "gundrop" : Unimplemented opcode #26." U have a few bugs/glitches, looks good though. If you can fix those up, that would be sweeeeet

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll make sure to look into those bugs when releasing the next build. (I though about releasing the next level in maybe 2 or 3 weeks, but, who knows, if I have time it might come a bit earlier...)

Just one suggestion, the player needs a health bar, not just a 1 hit kill Smile

Try upgrading your winzip program or getting winrar which is free. You can't unzip it because the file was compressed at the maximum compression ratio so older versions of winzip won't be able to extract the files.

If gundrop is a sound, it can slide but if it is not, you should not be using processes. This has been discussed countless times and it is probably what is causing the error.
