Hmm well this is interesting, I was watching "What the bleep do you know" and it showed how your way of thinking could affect your surrounding and even your future. I dont really have the background knowledge to understand the principles behind those hypothesis because I lack knowledge of even high school physics. But I was wondering if any of you guys at unis' have some kind of explanation or ideas presented by this theory, would you like to share it? I am really interested in knowing this kind of stuff, what do you guys think about this? |

Ahha! Elegant Universe is amazing, both the book and thte show. Of course, some is oversimplified, i find... but meh, doesn't matter. Read the book, if you can, that way you can go into more depth. |

Here's a great site explaining unified theory from a philosophy point of view. Easy to understand with or without classical physics education.

I don't really understand what you're talking about...you'd have to give a more detailed explaination of the theory to be able to get anyone to explain it to you (unless they've also seen the same show) |

Yes, The Elegant Universe is an amazing book. But I don't see what this has to do with MysticVegeta's very strange and undetailed question.

If I ignore the rest of your post, the mentionings of physics and quantum mechanics, for a minute, and focus only on this statement, I see nothing extraordinary.
You think, which leads to an action, such as walking across a room. This act changes your future: you're no longer in the same place. It also changes your surroundings: the room no longer contains you in the same place.
QED? |

I think he might be talking about how there are an infinite number of different futures, and when you explain in it scientific terms, it sounds extraordinary.
I think comparing water to dihydrogen monoxide is a good comparison. |

Hmm, I tried some books but they start out with weird symbols and equations, if I get this one, would it be like for people who are like complete amateurs? like I mean who know nothing about grade 11 and 12 physics?

Hmm well, I meant like how in the movie they showed that when a person is angry, the water around him changes its molecular shape, and changes to some else shape when hes sad. Then they said, "Could it affect everything and everyone around you? your way of thinking?" |

Nothing in grade 11 or 12 physics (with the exception of special relativity in grade 12, but that's minor) can prepare you for what The Elegant Universe will teach. So you don't need physics knowledge, but you need to be able to grasp physical concepts well. More importantly, you need to have an open mind.
That said, there's no reason not to go ahead and read it! If you're going to take the time to read it, however, I recommend you take the time to read it well. When I read it, I made 90 pages of notes, so that I was sure I was understanding it all and wouldn't get lost part way through because I didn't understand some of the previous material.

How does one's emotional state change the molecular shape of water? |

According to quantum, it does. o_O I am not sure, thats what they showed, thats why I posted here to get some views of other people. They also showed about some other weird things that can happen at the subatomic level. |
