Hey guys, heres another tutorial, one of my personal favourites. Sorry its kinda long lol. here we go
1. New document (500x500)
2. Filter > Render > Clouds
3. Filter > Render > Difference Clouds
4. Press "Ctrl+F" to repeat the Difference Clouds Effect. Press this about 20 times, until you get a rigid look similar to this.
5. Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates (Rectangular to Polar)
6. Use The Eliptical Marquee to Make a selection around the "Sphere" part of the canvas.
7. Now Right-Click inside the selection and select "Layer Via Copy" (This will copy the sphere part to a new layer)
8. Now select the top layer (Your "Sphere only" layer) and go to the "layer styles" and use the following settings:
Outer Glow:
Inner Glow:
Gradient Overlay:
Pattern Overlay:
Stroke:
9. Now to add color to our Orb. Press "Ctrl+B" to bring up the Color Balance Options, and use the following Settings.
For Midtones:
Cyan: 100
Blue: 100
For Highlights:
Cyan: 75
10. Now Set the "Blending Mode" of the top layer to "Vivid Light"
11. Now Make a Shine on the orb.

OK, that really is quite nice. But I think the shine might be a bit too much. It looks as though the ball is emitting light. Could you make it glow (blue) and make it less reflective looking? |

There's gotta be a way. Perhaps some strategic blurring could help? |
