Link.
I'm thinking we're going to have to wait for V3 to be released before being able to edit posts in help forums again. |

Might the whole decision just be reversed? It has caused a fair deal of trouble, and in all honesty I only remember two people retratcting their initial post in a Help forum. There are times when people would edit their previous posts to prevent them from looking stupid (myself included), but that isn't just an occurance of the Help forums. |

That's because they can't retract their posts in the help forums anymore.
It's fine the way it is I think. Ideally, there would be a 3 minute or so grace period where you could edit to fix tags/typos and stuff, but if there's a problem they can just PM one of the army of moderators. |

I believe in v3 there is a timelimit until the edit button gets disabled... or I think thats hows it going to be- which I think is the best solution. |

I'm pretty sure he's talking about before the changes.

Of course, you can still edit posts though... If you don't see the problem venture out into the Turing Help section a bit more. And if that doesn't trouble you at least a bit then I'm not sure what passes for acceptable posting anymore. Really, who's going to want to PM a mod for some typos? That's unrealistic. |

Yeah, it's really inconvenient IMO. It leads to double posting, and for me I often end up copy-pasting after deleting my post just to "edit" it. |

There is that preview buttion.
The reasons for this edit ban have be listed serveral times. And amailer is right, in v3 there will be somthing hopfully to fix this issue.
For the mean time i am not competly shure what to do, maybe it whould be a good idea to get input form the turing mods.... |

the optimal solution I think would be to implement this "no removing your post" for new users who are under a certain level. Though that's just more coding for Dan to do (when he _should_ be writing his exams and working on V3) |

How about... (I can't remember what site I saw this from, but it's good) no submit button. You click reply (or new topic), you type your message, and then hit preview. Fix any errors. Bam. *Now* the Submit button shows up. |

It really isn't about editing as much to fix errors, but one post in the xhtml was triple posted becasue I couldn't add to the first one.
Also what is with the attachments, I find that you can't attach in all th forums all the time. |

That whould be beuces not all forums need them. Having atatchments in off topic whould be a bit odd and a wast. |
