Interesting read, except that it was littered with what appear to be Microsoft "smart quotes" (A bit ironic).

Relates to what I've been thinking for awhile now, that the Open Source model could be applied to other industries. Music, for example.
On a similar topic, Harvey Danger released an album completely for free recently. It made me think of Open Source (the concept, not their music).

WoW, That was a ncie articale, it really opened up alot of question for companies to consider. I think thatb aritcle should be in every newspaper in the world, well of course besides china and other such states. I think it is a ratical idea, but were wouls we be without radical idea's. Newtom never would have written the prinpica I, II, III. There are so many inventings and discoveries that were made off radial idea's.

Here's a mirror (I think) for those who don't like registering to read news:

Oh... and how many people do you think check non-biased online reviews of products before they buy?

I certainly do. Consumer report, epinions, and gamerankings.com have saved me money & griefl.

I think we've had this discussion, Dan doesn't have "bad spelling". Dan is dyslexic.

So slow down and take some time to be coherent. I can accept misspelling when people have actual legitimate reasons for it - like Dan, who obviously does. You don't. So slow down, and spell right.

And then this guy hit his head and I laughed...

Back on topic... The one thing I don't like about open source is the miriade of splits. Like there are a million linux distributions, and yet most are very similar.

Would you prefer maybe four or five distros at most?

And then when you can't find one that meets your needs quite right, what do you do? Oh, right... you create your own distro. Hmmm... maybe there's a reason there are so many. Smile

I'm not saying that more distros is bad... just that I think there might be a few many... I also don't like the fact that if I write some kick ass program under most licences (GPL, etc.) others may take my work and then change and add to it, when I may not want it to have the program go in that direction.
