I've been experiencing some system instability I suspect is due to cooling issues (moved into a larger case and I'm hoping that resolves things). Anyone have suggestions for apps/applets which can monitor CPU temperature?

If your motherboard has a supported chipset you can use the lmsensors package with gkrellm, which is an awsome system monitor, I'd bet that there are other system monitors which can also get data from lmsensors...

There is -- gdesklets for instance, which I think are prettier and more Gnome-ish, which is what wtd likes Wink
I did a bit of research to see if there's any other hardware sensors for a desktop besides lmsensors, but it doesn't look like there is. So I'd give them a try, wtd, but a lot of motherboards are not supported (my server's, for instance Sad)

All you need to do is find out if what chipset your motherboard uses, and compile it into the kernel (or asa module...), I forget where exactly the option is, but it shouldn't be too hard to find (at least on 2.6.x)

I prefer GKrellm over gDesklets, simply because it works.
As for sensors, lm-sensors ends up being simpler to set up than I once thought. Here (assuming you don't have it set up already).

This is completely off topic, but are you running an nVidia card? There were a few problems with stability when I switched back to Windows a couple weeks ago (namely, RenderAccel was broken.)
