Whenever you post a message, it records the IP address it came from. Nothing terribly fancy (well, it is but), it's pretty automatic. As for programs... well, there may be some to get the IP from msn but if they're dumb enough you can get them to just tell you.
EDIT: or, google "Miranda" (not the IMO-useless functional language, the msn client). Supposedly it allows you to see the IP address of people on your contact list.

Get them to visit www.findmyip.com and that'll give them the external IP.

I'm not sure if you realize this but most (all?) trojans require the presence of a "backdoor" onto their system first. This is usually a small file or piece of code bundled into a seemingly beneficial software application. The error that the "server is not found" is probably indicating the absence of such a backdoor. In other words, getting into someone's computer is a WHOLE lot harder than finding out their IP. Thank god, or Tony could pwnz0r us all Wink

yes yes, i know. i have sent the server over msn and they have run it... when i get home im going to try one more thing and then i'll probably give up, for some reason i think there computer may need to be restarted in order for the server to take effect, but when the comp restarts do u think that they will need to open the exe server file again?? or will it already be running on startup/iternet startup?

It will definetly still be running. Network security would be a mighty simple thing if all you needed to do was restart your computer to clear it of all trojans, worms, and viruses Smile

ok, i am really getting frustrated, ya i am a n00b but this is what i have done in the trojans to try and work them.

1) create server
2) get users ip
3) send user the server
4) get them to run it
5) try and connect to them

it never connects. is this becuase the trojans are old and the servers are somehow outdated or something, would it connect if u were using a brand new trojan?

put in spam if u want.

If you really want a trojan go to porn sites or download a warcraft 3 cd key generator off kazaa. Counter strike and Starcraft keygens also will work. Laughing

You know those 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ips you got earlier? That's because they're behind a router. So even if you do get their external IP addresses (ie: http://www.whatismyip.com/ ). It wouldn't matter, because the router is still blocking all the ports required. So you would have to get them to go into their router's config dialogue (or site) and get them to forward the ports necessary to their own box in order for those trojans to get access. If you're trying to do this to some computer illiterate child, you won't get far; and if you're doing this to someone who's smart, they'll know something's up.
